The New Years Resolutions Your Business Needs

With the new year ahead of us, you will have undoubtedly had some time to reflect on the last year’s success and what needs to happen going forward over the course of the holidays. But what are the things you really need to focus on to ensure that your business gets to where it wants at the end of the year? Anything is possible after all, but outlining a clear set of goals (or New Years Resolutions if you will!) is sure to help you lock down the most important targets to achieve for your company.

With that, lets take a look at some of the most important resolutions that your company can focus on. Take it with a pinch of salt however, some things may be more applicable for your specific business, but here’s a set of general points for you:

Add to Your Social Media Presence

Marketing your business through social media, across platforms such as linkedin facebook and twitter should be at the top of many companies’ lists for the start of the year. Social media is an incredibly powerful tool that doesn’t cost you anything, and committing the time towards increasing your efforts here can be heavily rewarded

Increase Your Productivity

I’m sure this is a goal overall for any business, but just saying “increase productivity” doesn’t quite get at exactly what is trying to be said. For this I mean focus specifically on certain things that you can do, for example investing in some faster PCs, new software, cloud computing and so on. Taking a sharper focus on something that will take a while to implement at the start of the year will see a posititve and comfortable end of year.

Increase Your Sales

For increasing your sales, you don’t want you to be happy when you make slightly more profit, you want to be happy when you set a concrete goal and meet that target. Having a set goal as opposed to a fluid “we’re above usual” will give off a lot more of a rewarding feeling. Try not to over/underestimate your capabilities here though, look back on the last couple of years that you’ve been active and aim a tad higher than that.

Become more known in Your Industry

If there’s anything that can ensure consistent success its becoming well known in your field. Dedicate yourself to the New Year by attending and speaking at a number of events for example to get your face and voice out there to large groups of people. Doing this enough means people will be able to recognise and know you through your wealth of knowledge. You can also couple this with your social media presence, along with writing as a guest author for other known companies or associations within your industry.

Promote Your Brand

As an addition to the previous point mentioned, increasing your company’s branding presence is also another avenue to take for continued success. Promote your brand along local, online and far reaching campaigns (if possible) to get your name across as many faces as possible. Sometimes being able to do this on anywhere besides local and, at best, online can pose a challenge, but working with promotional merchandise you can get a huge return for a small investment, so it may be worth consideration!
