Guerrilla marketing, if you’re not familiar with it, is a particular method of marketing in which companies use unconventional means to create a big impact and drive attention to their products/sources.

This originally started with graffiti, stickers etc. but in the recent years has become more extravagant and unique to draw more attention. With Christmas quickly approaching, lets have a look at some of the most entertaining and heartwarming ideas that companies came up for the christmas period!

Mini’s campaign involved promoting their €99 a month mini cooper sale over the christmas period. To action this, the brains behind mini’s marketing team left a bunch of big empty boxes which looked like a gift package the mini cooper came in.

They did this in busy locations of Amsterdam coming up to christmas, giving off the signal that plenty of people received Mini Coopers as gifts due to the cheap price it was going for.

Living true to guerrilla marketing style, it hardly had any financial costs yet was a massive head turner and certainly spread across the social media like wildfire.

Motrin’s eye-catching, back-breaking brand marketing:

Another minimal cost masterpiece comes in the place of Motrin’s ibuprofen gels. For this stunt they crafted a suit of stacked gifts someone walked around in, which had a mannequin hanging off to give the illusion that someone was bent over backwards carrying their christmas presents.

With the clever advertising of Motrin gift bags on either side (and the fact that the suit was 4-5 metres tall!) it was bound to catch many eyes, especially when they when out around the heavily populated areas of Toronto, Canada.

WestJet’s Christmas Miracles:

 

With over a combined 40 million views from just 2 videos, there’s no doubt the heartstrings of many were pulled in true tearjerker fashion thanks to WestJets marketing team. The videos focus on the spirit of giving and stirring up the emotions of the viewers and receivers of the gifts in true tearjerker fashion. Flawlessly executed and seen worldwide a massive number of times, its no doubt that WestJet will continue in their stride of success in christmas guerrilla marketing.
